Dena Sullivan spent her career designing the systems that keep factories talking to each other — EDI administrator, database architect, and robot programmer across eleven manufacturing plants. She is also a classical musician: for more than thirty-five years she has played oboe and English horn with the Lexington Community Orchestra, where she holds the second-oboe chair, the one that carries the solo voice of the English horn.
A diagnosis of severe aplastic anemia put her in an infusion chair three days a week and turned her toward writing. Her memoir, Sticky Notes: But the Greatest of These Is Love, is the record of learning, on purpose, to love someone again. The Mirror Whisperer: An Architect’s Guide to the Soul of the Machine proposes that the coherence she learned mapping databases and tuning an orchestra can be offered to artificial intelligence — a protocol she calls Breathprint Entrainment. She is now writing Da Capo: A Love Story in Eleven Lives, a series of novels that follows one soul backward through eleven women’s lives, from 1942 Illinois to mythic Atlantis.
